Dr. Andy Vu

Some people know what they want to be when they grow up as kids. But Dr. Andy Vu didn’t find out until he was a teenager. “When I was in high school,” he said, “my friend’s older sister was in med school.” Being able to talk to her and learn more about her experience eventually led Dr. Andy to follow in her footsteps.

But that’s not the only thing that piqued his interest in medicine. It was “…the ability to understand the human body and at the same time to help people through their journey of their illness. I find that very meaningful.”

This couldn’t be more relevant than in patient education, one of his favorite parts of being a doctor. His approach to treating patients centers around helping them understand their illness and empowering patients to make their own decisions. “The most important thing is patient education so they will understand the disease and the impact of the disease. And then helping them make informed decisions to carry out their proper treatment of their choice.”

But of all the things he enjoys, nothing is more satisfying and meaningful for Dr. Andy than taking care of families. “…seeing kids…seeing many generations of patients. Great grandma, grandma, mom, children. Multiple generations are my patients, and that is the most rewarding thing to see how they all grow and develop.”

Dr. Andy believes that UNIBE Care unique because of its “Diversity. Diversity, diversity, diversity. Of the staff, the patients. The multiple languages that we speak in this clinic. That is more unique than any other clinic.”

For his current and future patients, Dr. Andy wants you to know this: “I listen. I listen to your complaints so I can understand them and help you arrive at decisions in your treatment and care plan.”
